find out about it the way they did. >> reporter: and here is a list of parish schools that have shut down so far. towson catholic today. st. michaels in frostburg, catholic community in federal hill, and st. mary's elementary and middle schools in gauvins. we'll have reaction to the shutdown of towson catholic tonight at 11. live in mount vernon, delia goncalves, abc 2 news. new developments in a deadly light rail accident. the maryland transit administration now says at least one train, maybe two, struck the two baltimore county teens, killing them. abc 2 news brian kuebler as the details and reaction from the boys' family. >> reporter: gary peterson lost more than a son and a soon to be step-son. he lost his best friend. >> what goes through your mind? i lost two boys. i have nothing to say.

nothing. >> reporter: peterson still has so many questions. connor peterson and kyle wankmiller were found lying on the light rail tracks sunday afternoon, both critically wounded. both boys would later die. >> it's not fair. not fair. take two of my boys. in 24 hours, i hope they find the problem. >> reporter: mta says it is starting to get an idea. based on video surveillance, officials now say both teens were struck while walking the center of the trucks, but that the conductor didn't see them and kept going. mta says that part of the rails are dark, and the teens were wearing black. according to its preliminary investigation, mta say the boys laid there while a second train ran over them. it was that train that stopped, and the crew discovered the bodies. >> at least two trains show that they may have come in contact with the individuals. and again, we need to go

through and do an accident investigation. we have to interview the operators. we have to interview passengers. >> reporter: but it already doesn't make sense to the boys' families. >> this is not right. something is wrong. with this situation. these boys are smarter than that. >> reporter: a father's intuition as he is now forced to bury two of his boys at the end this week. in baltimore, brian kuebler, abc 2 news. >> and the mta says its investigation is still continuing. an 8-year-old boy was hurt today when his hand got stuck in an escalator at baltimore's national aquarium. it 457ed around 2:00 this afternoon. firefighters were able to free the boy and take him to the hospital, but have not said how badly his hand was injured. the boy's name and condition have not been released. it was a memorial seen around the world. as family, friends and fans said goodbye to michael jackson this afternoon. the day began with a private family service at forest lawn cemetery in the hollywood

hills. a motorcade then brought jackson's flower-draped casket the staples center, where friends and family celebrated jackson's life in a way that was more spiritual than spectacular. there were musical tributes and personal messages for people who love and worked with michael jackson, including jennifer hudson, stevie wonder, smoky robinson, and many others. jackson's family and three children then walked onstage to thank those who attended as jackson's daughter, a tearful paris, spoke about her father. >> i just want to say i love him. so much. [ applause ] >> while thousands filled the staples center, others gathered at enoch pratt library to watch today's memorial service. abc 2 news carin redman was there and has more on local reaction to the singer's final farewell. >> reporter: little nia mcdonald wore her michael jackson t-shirt to watch the memorial service.

she is part of a large number of people who gathered downtown at if enoch pratt library to review the service on the library's jumbo screen. >> i found my voice from singing his songs and stuff. and dancing in the living room with my grandmother. and he really means a lot. we tried to go to the memorial service, but it didn't really work out. >> people want to be with people during something like this. and i think that's what is happening today. >> reporter: and you can tell by all the sad faces watching just how much the pop icon meant to his loyal fans all over the world and here at home. >> it just shows up michael jackson and his legacy and how he was great all over the world, how many people loved him. and i really, really enjoyed all his music. >> when you heard he died, what was your reaction? >> a part of me died too. >> we just wanted to pay respect and show the younger generation who mack really was. i don't think a lot of the

younger generation knows who he really was. i just came to pay my respects, just like everyone else. >> reporter: the jumbotron is usually only reserved for important events. the last time they brought this out was for the inauguration. >> because michael jackson has been a musical icon, he has provided a soundtrack for a generation, we believed it was appropriate to showcase his memorial service. >> as they were when diana died. people always remember where they was when michael jackson died. it was shock and sadness. >> reporter: and for youngsters, she says she will always remember how she says goodbye to michael jackson. carin redman, abc 2 news. >> early estimates are that nearly a billion people worldwide watched today's jackson memorial. across our region, another beautiful day today. here is you're forecast for the next couple of hours. partly cloudy, temperatures hanging in the 80s. cooling off overnight. we've got a cooler day on tap.

tomorrow as we remain below normal temperature-wise during the summer of 2009. we'll have the complete forecast coming up in a couple minutes. now the latest on the murder of former baltimore raven quarterback steve mcnair. tennessee state medical examiner says investigators hesitate concluding that mcnair's girlfriend killed him and herself because she did not appear to have a motive. however, officials say that murder-suicide is the most likely scenario. and it's unlikely the crime is committed bay third person. the murder-suicides, friends and family usually have seen problems. but 20-year-old sahel kazemi's family says she was very happy. police are still testing the gun found under kazemi's body. rob carlin will have more reaction to mcnair's death later on in sports. several local churches are speaking out against what they say is a kiosk scam. churches united for justice, the naacp and community activists are attacking alleged

deceptive practices by companies around the country. the churches say they have been defrauded out of tens of thousands of dollars. they also fear they could be liable for millions of dollars because certain companies placed kiosks in their churches with deceptive kiosks. >> the writing was so small, it took a magnifying glass to read. that's number 1. number 2, the way they presented themselves is that they wanted the confidence of many of us by coming to our conventions, coming to our conferences, and sharing as if they were straight, aboveboard. >> the maryland attorney general has agreed to meet with the group of representatives about the situation. the group plans to pursue legal action against companies involved in the scam and want to provide monetary relief to churches involved in the scam. you can call it a record- breaking kidney swap. johns hopkins hospital has led the first ever eight-way kidney transplant involving 16 people

looking to bring an indy race to the streets of downtown. as roosevelt leftwich tells us, it's an idea that has many starting their engines. >> sometimes when you're driving around downtown, it can feel like you're on a racetrack. for the rushing cars along pratt street don't have a thing on this. right now the city, the state, and a private development firm are looking at the feasibility of bringing a grand prix-style race that would cut through the heart of the harbor, all the way over to russell street and back. >> estimates are 150,000 visitors, $100 million in economic impact. which is generated from the visitors, from the hotels, meals, et cetera, and also major national television exposure. >> reporter: a race of this caliber would bring a lot mother than say lots of tourists and tourist dollars. we're talking about international exposure. millions of people worldwide love this type of racing 689 however, folks here in baltimore hopes this type of

racing brings something else to the city, a better roadway. you can hear the bumps and lumps even before you see them up close. race fans worry while the city can prevent a great tourist package, can the city get its road into track shape? >> i think it would do wonders for the city, clean up the roads. the roads do suck. they're definitely not ready for a grand prix. i was in monaco. that race was amazing. >> i would love to see it do. i think the streets are good for it? no. but if they really want it, they could definitely flatten it out and make it a good course. >> it will be looking at the feasibility in terms of the street closures, the conditions of the streets, the ability to close the streets down and handle that kind of a large crowd. >> reporter: but any city or state investment in the roads or any part of this can pay big dividends. four days of racing on the international stage can be a positive road trip of sorts for the city of baltimore. in baltimore, roosevelt leftwich, abc 2 news.

>> if it happens, that would be pretty wild. people in harford and northern baltimore counties flooded 911 can calls early yesterday morning after they heard a loud explosion and saw a bright light. police think it came from a meteor, burning up in the atmosphere. we reported on this yesterday. but now we have a picture of that meteor. mike henke sent us this picture. he was take long exposure shots of the andromeda galaxy and was inside his house when he heard the loud boom. when he checked the pictures, he found this light trail across the street. you can find more picture at mike's astro photos.com. >> you notice there were several white streaks in there that's because as the meter your comes in, it breaks apart. >> each piece has a streak. >> when you're taking astral photography, you open up the shutter and let it open for an hour, hour and a half. if something happens to pass in front of the camera, which it

ocean city hasn't reported in. as far as the satellite picture, throughout the day, lots of sunshine and a frontal system. can't see it on the map? well, it is moving in our direction. a very weak little cold front right through this direction right there, making its way in our direction. and behind the front a little cooler air is coming in. when i say cooler, we're not talking about a big difference. i'm talking about just a couple degrees difference as it swoops through the region. but as you can see, it's coming through our area precipitation- free. it is causing some shower and thunderstorm activity over portions of new england. right now maryland's most powerful radar not indicating any precipitation, but if you go to our website to abc2news.com, you can take a look at our interactive radar. that's the tornado alley section of the interactive radar. showing that shower and thunderstorm activity right now making its way through connecticut, just south of harford on its way through rhode island, new hampshire, vermont getting some shower and thunderstorm activity. also maine getting some activity. and right around albany, new york, they've got some shower and thunderstorm activity also. again, it's available on your

computer, 24/7, 365 at abc2news.com. your forecast for tonight. a few little light clouds are going to be around, but for the most part, not in the bad evening. it's very, very pleasant. it's not going to be that cool tonight. it's going to be very mild. a little bit more humid, but then the frontal system comes through. during the day tomorrow quite a bit of sunshine on tap. we'll still see some shower activity over the carolinas, down into georgia. and once we get along to thursday, there is a chance future a little bit of shower on the eastern shore. but for the most part here in the baltimore area, we are going to be precipitation-free until friday. then this system starts riding up the coast, and that's what is going to be bringing in the rain for the end of the week. here is the forecast for the overnight period. partly cloudy and mild, 63 degrees for the overnight low. during the day tomorrow on wednesday, hump day, partly cloudy, breezy and cool were a high of 82 degrees. now the 82 tomorrow is going to be followed by -- no, not going to be followed by fireworks. that's left listen to from last week. 80 degrees on thursday. 82 on friday. well, we could see some fireworks. i don't think so. fireworks on friday, saturday, and sunday and again on monday,

with below normal temperatures. then monday and tuesday partly cloudy skies, 82 and 48 degrees. we'll see you tonight at 11:00. without the fireworks. throw it over to rob. national police still haven't classified the death of sahel kazemi. the state medical examiner says it's still likely murd- suicide, they just have no motive yet. the titans will give fans an opportunity to pay tribute to mcnair. their opening l.p. field wednesday and thursday, playing video highlights on the big screen. mark clayton had his best year in the nfl with mcnair in 2006. he says he is relying on his faith to get him through this tough time. >> he done so much, you know, for us, for this city, and for the community of baltimore. it's unfortunate, but i mean for me, i can rest in the fact that i know that steve was saved. so he is resting in peace.

she in a better place than, you know, we are right now. >> clayton said he was obviously stunned when he got the text message saturday and says mcnair was extremely humble. he actually just got back from nashville today. clayton is back in town for his football camp at mcdaniel college in westminster. this used to be art monk's camp, but former redskins receiver. but clayton took it over last year. he says he is hoping to help kids learn, and more importantly have fun. >> we had so much fun last year. i was out here with the kids. and we would stay out here until it got dark, and play football, and i mean i'm just very excited about this year, and i know we'll have a good year and the kids are going to learn a lot again. >> good job there by clayton. the camp runs through friday. if you have a baseball jones and want to get a glimpse of the orioles' future, head to bowie tonight. last year bine madison starting

and cesar torres will start his rehab. the orioles were just awful last night. totally dominated by mariners starter jarrod washburn. washburn struck out 2 in the first inning, but did not walk a single batter. in fact, the o's only hit came on this jam job in the fourth inning, nick markakis breaking up the no-hitter. so 1 hit, no walks. that means washburn could have had a perfect game if not for that markakis bloop back in the fourth inning. the first one-hitter against the orioles since august of 1995. toronto's menhart threw that one. the o's lost last night 5-0. jeremy guthrie gets the start tonight against erik bedard, the former oral. we'll have the latest if there is any new details on steve mcnair, plus new highlights tonight on the latest at 11. that's sports.
